randoms on a tuesday…

here’s a few of the random things going through my head on this fine tuesday evening…

….Good old fashion Jelly Beans are the best.  I do love the Jelly Belly, Jolly Rancher, and Sweet Tart kinds as well, but the regulars ones are my favorite….in particular the white, purple, and pink.  I truly wish that the Jelly Bean people would make a bag full of just white, purple, and pink ones…I’d be so, so happy!

…..water is so tasty!  I have never enjoyed water as much as I do right now.  I’m still not sure that I drink enough (although I do get in about 72 + oz a day) but it’s so good.  And if I add a bit of crushed ice….you’d think I was sipping away at a margarita, I enjoy it so much!

…..I went to the Teacher Store tonight with a gift card from a student (at Christmas time)….instead of buying something for my classroom, I bought something for my babies!  Already planning to make them smarty pants 🙂

……I’m not going on a warm Spring Break trip this year….this is this first year in at least 6-7 years that I haven’t gone somewhere warm.  I always depend on my mid-winter tan to get me through till the real summer here in Minnesota.  I guess I’m gonna have to deal with being super pale.

……I don’t like my finger nails long…they just get in the way.  And while I really don’t like them long, it’s taken me a week to get around to cutting them.  Geeez!

……I love FaceTime.  My husband and I just discovered it this week (with the purchase of his new iPod, and the use of my work iPad) and it’s already been a godsend!  We’ve tried Skype and Google Video before, but they all crapped out or didn’t work for whatever reason….FaceTime is fantastic.  So fantastic that I suggested we “FaceTime” while we sleep so we can still wake up next to each other.

And there you have it folks….randoms from yours truly!

24 Week Bumpdate

How far along? 24 Weeks

Total weight gain:  Didn’t go to the gym this week (too nice outside) and didn’t have an appointment…so I have no idea what the scale says right now 🙂  Probably better that way!

Maternity clothes?  Oh yeah.  When I first started buying maternity clothes I bought stuff for the season…winter.  But now that the seasons are changing, and my belly is growing, I realized it was time to do another (and hopefully last) shopping spree through the maternity sections.  Thankfully my sister in law is going to let me borrow some of her summery maternity clothes, so I just bought a few staples…a couple dresses, a couple skirts, and a couple tank tops.  I’m hoping this next batch of clothes will get me through till the end!

Stretch marks?  No, but I woke up from a dream one night where I was in a dressing room…you know with all those bright, nasty lights, and I saw some crazy stretch marks that I hadn’t seen before.  I was very stressed when I woke up…but thankfully, the dream wasn’t true 🙂

Sleep:   I can’t tell you the difference that I have felt in sleep this week with the changing of the flannel sheets to regular cotton sheets (thanks, Greg).  Being cooler at night has been wonderful!  I’m usually so cold, but these days, a sheet is about all I can deal with while sleeping before I start to overheat.  Otherwise, sleep has been ok….tossing and turning, but nothing that keeps me up, which is good.  I think it’s probably worse for Greg.

Best moment this week:  All my students seeing the baby(ies) moving.  I was giving a spelling test and all the sudden the babies started dancing inside.  I told the kids they had to be very quiet and still to see the babies….that’s the most peace I’ve had all year!  It was really fun to see how excited they were.  Now I catch the kids looking at my belly all the time…just waiting to see one move.  I don’t blame them, I would stare at my belly all the time too, if I could 🙂

Miss Anything?   Hmmmm.  Good question.  Nothing new at the moment…mostly just things I’ve talked about before:  solid sleep, laying on my stomach, breathing through my nose, energy, etc.

Movement: Lots and lots of movement.  It’s fun, and sometimes distracting!

Food cravings:  Nothing in particular, food-wise, this week…although I have been wanting Gatorade all the time…which is odd, because I never used to like it.  Now I love it!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Nope.

Fruit/Veggie Size:  Grapefruits!  Babies’ see-through skin is gradually becoming more opaque…and it’s got a new pink glow, thanks to the small capillaries that have recently formed.

Symptoms:  My hair growing at the speed of light.  I just got my hair cut over the weekend and I feel pounds lighter.  My hair is always thick, but it feels especially thick right now.

Belly Button in or out?  About the same.  Although today I freaked out when my belly button looked almost normal after I was laying on my side for a while…as soon as I sat up and let things settle back into place, it popped right back out.  Must have been the way the kiddos were laying!

Wedding rings on or off? On…but starting to leave a mark on my finger.  Ouch!

Mood This Week:  Slightly overwhelmed by work.  I have one heck of a class this year (that may be an understatement) and being pregnant has shortened my patience level with most things work related….I think mostly because my mind is way preoccupied with a few little kiddos that are far more important to me, than work.  So, I’m trying to do the best I can do, and be ok with that!

Looking forward to: A friend’s wedding this week!  I am a little sad because my dance ability may be limited, but I have been itchin’ to dance, so this is gonna be great.  Plus the babies really seem to enjoy loud, dance music…seriously!

23 Week Bumpdate

No, you're not seeing things. That's how big I am! Doctor said I'm measuring about 27 weeks (if I had one nugget in there)

How far along? 23 Weeks

Total weight gain:  Apparently the gym scale doesn’t lie.  I went to the doctor this week and I was up 19 pounds total.  HOLY SMOKES!!!!  I keep asking my doctor about how much I’ve gained and how big I am and she keeps reassuring me that it’s just fine.  Her words “You’re doing great….and with someone who is smaller to begin with, we usually expect they gain a bit more, plus you’re having twins…I would imagine you’ll gain close to 45 pounds before the end…”  45 POUNDS?!?!?!!!!  Oh my poor, poor back.

Maternity clothes?  Yes!  And I was browsing the Target clearance aisle which is usually has very little maternity stuff in it….but I stumbled upon a cute, cute dress (casual, comfy, just about the right weight for this time of year) for….drum roll please….$3.00!!!  I was so, so excited!  I snatched that dress right up!

Stretch marks?  No.  Thank goodness the stretching is gradual.  Otherwise I’m sure I’d be all marked up by now!

Sleep:  This week has been ok.  Though I did have a couple of nights with crazy, scary dreams.  One night I had to get up and get on the computer to take my mind off of the dreams.  It’s been pretty warm here (high 70s) so it’s been a little warmer than usual, sleeping wise….and I still have flannel sheets on the bed…so that may have also played a part in some of the tossing and turning!

Best moment this week:  Getting a massage!!!  The lady did not go easy on me, but she really worked out some sore spots (though I think they are already sore again because of all the weight on my back)…but it was really relaxing and I actually fell asleep during the massage….which I have never done before.  It was just a very relaxing treat for myself (thank you, Groupon).

Miss Anything?   My clothes.  I love shopping and getting new things….but truthfully, having to buy new things all the time is getting old….plus I miss my cute summer dresses!

Movement: This week (even in the last few days) have kicked up their activity to the next level.  I feel them all the time!  Assuming they are still in the same position, I feel baby boy the most (as I have this whole time)….and I feel baby girl less in my stomach area and more on the very, very side….it feels closer to my hip.  Its weird!  But very fun!

Food cravings:  Shamrock Shakes.  I had 2 this week.  Oh boy.  I couldn’t help myself since I wasn’t sure how long they would be around!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Not really.

Fruit/Veggie Size:  Pomegranate! Babies are listening to your voice and your heartbeat — and even to loud sounds like cars honking and dogs barking.

Symptoms: Achy back!  Enough said.

Belly Button in or out?  For as much as my stomach is growing, my belly button really isn’t changing much.  When I stand up its out just a bit, when I sit down, it’s flat, and if the babies are shifting around in there, sometimes its even “in”….weird!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood This Week:  Thankful.  For those of you who follow on Facebook, this is a repeat….but I have just been reminded how thankful I am to have Greg through this journey!  I can’t imagine being able to function without him.  He’s up early making me breakfast, helping me gather enough food for my day at work, making dinner, cleaning up around here, etc. etc.  The list goes on….not to mention just being an emotional and mental support.  And I know that once the babies are here, he’s going to be just as great.  He’s already told me how he wants me to leave the babies with him to just roam around Target.  I could keep going, but the point is that I am thankful for a husband who cares for me and the babies more than I probably even understand.

Looking forward to: Greg returning home!  He was at a Bachelor party all weekend….and while I am glad he had some time with the guys, I missed having my favorite person around this weekend!

22 Week Bumpdate

Well, hello Babies!

How far along? 22 Weeks

Total weight gain: Well….17 pounds according to the LA Fitness scale.  But that seems crazy.  I don’t get how I could ave gained that much….they babes don’t even weigh very much.  Plus, not to be overly confident (cause this will probably bite me in the butt, one day)…but it appears that I haven’t really gained weight anywhere other than my belly.  So how could I have 17 pounds just in my belly?!  Crazy.

Maternity clothes?  Yup.  As usual…a mix of both.  I bought some new jeans today…the maternity ones I had before were “under the belly” style….which in theory would be great….except for me, it was so uncomfortable.  So I got the kind that goes all the way over the belly….they fit wonderfully, but we’ll see how long it lasts!  I also bought a few other items that weren’t maternity, but were so cute I couldn’t pass them up.  So, if I don’t wear them now, I’ll save them as motivation to be able to wear them after the twinsies arrive.

Stretch marks?  Nada.  But I did find it odd that one of Greg’s male co-workers, in conversation about my being pregnant, asked if I had stretch marks.  NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, dude….the only people that get to know about the status of stretch marks are my blog readers.  Count yourself lucky 🙂

Sleep:  Last week I said that sleep had been great…I posted this update, went to bed…and had a horrid night of sleep.  I would lay on one side and baby boy would kick…I would turn to the other side and baby girl would kick.  Needless to say, I had some major bags under my eyes the next day.  The rest of the week was fine….but I did have to come sleep on the couch early on Saturday morning.  I just couldn’t get comfortable in bed and I didn’t want to bother Greg.

Best moment this week: Experience the kindness of others.  This ranges from strangers being more prone to opening doors for this big bellied lady, to co-workers celebrating our babies through a shower, to random gifts from family arriving in the mail.  It’s extremely heart-warming to know how many people already love our little ones!

Miss Anything?   Wanting to work out.  I dread it every time I have to go to the gym….I used to love it.  Ugh.

Movement: Lots of kicks and punches!  I love it.  It is rather distracting, though.  I can be mid-conversation and feel the babies kicking so I put my hand on my stomach and often get side-tracked.  Also, sometimes it’s a pretty powerful kick and it literally takes my breath away.  I know what you’re thinking, “Oh…so sweet…”  but I’m not talking taking my breath away figuratively.  I’m serious…it’s hard enough to make me stop what I’m doing and gasp a little.  It’s not painful, it’s just harder than normal so it catches me off guard.

Food cravings:  Still craving frozen fruit bars.  Yum Yum!  I ate through the rest of the frozen pineapple bar box, and had Greg pick up some frozen strawberry bars today!  Can’t wait to crack those open!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Sometime did make me a little gaggy this week….and I can’t remember what it was.  I am pretty sure it was something that would have made me gag regardless of being pregnant or not.

Gender: Boy and Girl.  And since the world knows that now, I’m going to take that line out of the Bumpdate out, next week.  Unless we go to our next ultrasound (in a few weeks) and find out that they told us wrong the first time….then I’ll be sure to update you 🙂

Fruit/Veggie Size:  Papayas! Babies are now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing.  Too bad for my nuggets, they hear loud unruly children and a stressed out Mrs. Mohr all day at school.  Thankfully our house is pretty peaceful 🙂  Their little faces are fully formed, as well. And, babies are starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day.

Labor Signs: Nope.  I may also take this part of the Bumpdate out….it’s a little early to be talking Labor signs…and thinking about it stresses me out  🙂

Symptoms: Still a stuffy nose.  I was thinking this would go away at some point….buuuuut, it’s still here.  Oh well.

Belly Button in or out? About the same.

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood This Week:  Tired.  I wish I had more energy….but I’m continuing to realize how much work it is to grow two babies (for those people who grow more than 2….wow, I can’t imagine).  I’m trying to take advantage of the times that I can put my feet up or lay down for a snooze.  I’ve definitely had to slow down my pace of life, which is fine by me…I’m really thankful for the slowing down….as I know in a few months, it will be anything but slow around here!

Looking forward to: The weather!  It’s supposed to be gorgeous here this week….so I am really looking forward to lighter clothes (perhaps skirts and dresses)  as well as walks around our neighborhood with the Mr. and our babes!  Can’t wait to be outside!
