I am a teacher by training. I have had lots of practice and experience teaching things to kiddos. But having my own babies has posed a whole new level of teaching.
There are so many things we do that we just KNOW how to so….breathe, blink, swallow, etc. From what I can remember, no one had to teach me how to do those things. There are so many other things I would put in the “we just know how to do this” category, but I am quickly finding out, in fact, we don’t just inherently know them. We must learn them.
For example…sitting. I thought babies, once a certain age, just sat up. Not the case. You have to show baby how to sit, hold baby up, practice even.
So when it came time to introduce the sippy cup, I kind of picture them just throwing back some juice and calling it a day. Not so much. We are still working at it….but in very recent developments, both babies have taken a few sips rather than just playing with it like a chew toy. I have tried so many things like helping hold/tip cup back, putting food on the cup so they want to gobble it off, showing them how I can drink out of the cup, etc. You get the picture—it takes work to teach these little nuggets a new skill. Sometimes I have all the patience in the world, many times I don’t. But seeing them make progress is great!
They are not consistent or even good at drinking from a sippy yet, but they are making progress and that’s what motivates me to continue to be a good “teacher” for my babies!
A day late and a dollar short. What do ya do?! Keep reading, that’s what you do! Sorry this is a little late….
This weekend was busy, as always. I always think its going to be so laid back and relaxing. It rarely is laid back! I still can’t figure out if its due to babies or all the stuff we have planned!??
Greg and I each had an evening out with friends. It’s so nice to get out and catch up with people you care about! Plus not having to cook and wearing real clothes is pretty great too!
One morning we got donuts! Yum! Joshua was pretty excited for them too!
Mama went shopping and made babies lots of food. I was literally OUT of my stash of baby food….I even had to feed them store bought baby food….GASP! So I shopped around for sales and deals. And when I say shopped around, I really mean take pictures to remember prices and then forget to recheck those pictures I took and end up buying where I THINK it seemed cheaper. Probably ended up spending more money by “shopping around”.
We had some evening cuddles while watching our beloved baby tv shows. Yes, I let my 7.5 month old babies watch tv.
Many other things happened over the weekend but those were mainly things like changing diapers, washing bottles, feeding babies, picking up toys, etc. Not really noteworthy 🙂
Have a great start to the week!
I see my babies every day.
Sometimes I still view them as “little” despite the fact that people always tell me how big they are getting or how much they have changed.
But once in a while I catch a glimpse of these very grown up babies…babies that are no longer infants, but rather babies who can do a ton of real people things…like sit up, eat food, toss and turn while sleeping, etc.
Here is proof….
Growing up in the blink of an eye!
We are back and a little more rested these days!!! Yahoo! Here’s a look at our weekend….
The babies learned the art of nuzzling….
We all took naps…in fact, I took two naps one day. What in the world? The house looked like a tornado had hit, but I was feeling pretty great 🙂
Joshy and daddy watch a soccer game….
Sophia decided one pacifier was not enough….
We did lots of pajama cuddling!!!
And as always, the weekend was over way too quickly!!!
Happy Monday, all!
here’s the deal, people…
babies have gone from great sleepers to not so great sleepers.
greg was traveling for work.
babies went from not so great sleepers to terrible sleepers.
greg returned from work trip.
we started sleep training babies.
i’m tired. really tired, actually.
once we are back to sleeping like normal people (or at least semi-normal people) i will be back with posts, pictures, FAQ, and all the bloggy goodness you could hope for.
until then. i need to wash some diapers and take a nap.
