Holiday Happenings: Christmas Tree Pancakes

A few more of our holiday activities to share…

One morning I was really hoping to get some green and red sprinkle donuts but we never got out the door before the troops were begging for food….so we improvised and made something equally great….Christmas tree pancakes! Complete with green food coloring and sprinkles for lights!

The kids thought it was so fun and had a blast helping prep and eat this yummy breakfast!

Note Joshua crying in one of the pics. Little guy couldn’t contain his hunger or excitement while we finished prepping the pancakes 🙂

Christmas Celebrations!

We celebrated Christmas three times!

The kids have new toys coming out their ears!

It was a really fun year of celebrations with both my family, Greg’s family, and our little family of four {five, counting the babe that’s cooking}…

We tried to talk a lot about the reason why we celebrate Christmas…the special gift of baby Jesus being born….it’s been a fun year to see them understand “more” of why we celebrate!

So the rest of this post will be pictures….enjoy!!!

Merry Christmas to you all! Hope it’s been a wonderful season for you and yours!

2014 in ReView

Lots happened in 2014….

WordPress was kind enough to throw together a recap for me….

thanks for keeping up with us!

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,400 times in 2014. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 5 trips to carry that many people.

Holiday Happenings: Tree Painting

Last year, we made some cute little Mistletoes for a Christmas project….

This year, we made some Christmas Trees! The kids are still pretty hesitant to do “out of the norm” things because they are sure I am trying to torturing them….so when I suggested painting our hands to make trees they put up a stink. But I bribed with cookies and once I started painting their hands, they giggled and thought it felt funny. Uhhhh, that’s what I had just told them. :). They had to discover on their own that it wasn’t so bad, I guess.

Anyway, after we made the trees, we let them dry, and after nap we got out q-tips to dab on the twinkle lights. I really wanted to do this part on my own cause I knew it was likely one or both wouldn’t just dab (they enjoy smearing…) but I realized it would be way more appropriate to let them do their thing…imperfections and all! I did show them how to dab but then let them do the rest of their own!

The trees turned cute and they had fun….especially when it came to show daddy what we had created!

Holiday Happenings: jingle bell toss

I saw this idea and thought it would be fun to try! It’s so simple but the kids have been having a blast with it most days.

All we had to do was create two squares on the ground using painters tape, grab an empty box, and two jingle bells. The goal is for the kids to stand in the squares and toss the jingle bells into the box! Move the box around to various locations to create a challenge…and throw on the Christmas tunes to make it extra holiday-y!

It was so funny to watch the kids. Some moments they were very focused and determined…others, they ran out of their floor square and just dropped the bell into the box.

Joshua style…

Sophia’s style…
