life lately :: Joshy & Soccer

Ever since we started talking about Sophia doing a ballet class, Joshua had been 100% convinced he was going to also be doing a class–a “car class” more specifically.  I searched high and low and I could not find a car class–a train class, which we did sign him up for, but no car class.

Since his train class doesn’t start till December, we decided to give a toddler soccer class a whirl because waiting from June until December for your train class to start is a little bit torturous for a 3 year old.   If you know anything about my family or Greg’s interests, you know that we are a soccer family.  I never played but grew up watching the game, so made sense to have Joshy try it out.

This intro class is a patent/child class, so Greg goes with Joshua on Saturday mornings!  Joshy has enjoyed it but spent the entire first class running up and down the field kicking the ball into the goal–isn’t that what you do in soccer??

He comes home very excited each week showing me the stamp he earned and telling me what he did!  We will see if he continues to enjoy learning about the sport, but as of now, I think he’d give it two thumbs up!

Clara Ann :: 8 monthsΒ

8 months {just a few weeks late}. So big. Slow down, baby.

Schedule:

Somehow, SOMEHOW, we are back on a relatively predictable schedule, praise the Lord. I am such a freak about scheduling so when Clara was all over the place with sleeping and eating, I was going a little bananas not being able to predict. So here is how it stands, as of this past month:

6:00–Wake Up + Bottle

play play play

crawl crawl crawl

eat food off the ground

repeat

8:00–Breakfast

8:30-10:00–Nap #1 + Bottle when she wakes

play play play

crawl crawl crawl

eat food off the ground

repeat

12:00–Lunch

play play play

crawl crawl crawl

eat food off the ground

repeat

1:30-3:00–Nap #2 + Bottle when she wakes

play play play

crawl crawl crawl

eat food off the ground

repeat

5:00–Dinner

play play play

crawl crawl crawl

eat food off the ground

repeat

6:30–Bath + Bedtime Bottle + Goodnight

Eating:

This month Clara also got into a bit more of a routine with her feedings; though feeding her is less than easy. She just wants to be down on the ground, playing and crawling, and rolling around with the big kids. I sometimes have to put her in her carseat to get her to eat; so she can’t move. However, she is taking three 6 oz bottles and then an 8 oz bottle before bed; sometimes more. She is eating 3 meals of day of solid foods and we finally introduced puffs and yogurt melts plus little bits of whatever food we are eating. She loves to eat! Especially all the food crumbs off the ground.
Sleeping:

Clara Baby is sleeping so much better this month! We did a little CRY IT OUT sleep training for the little lady and it was truly torture the first night we did it. I am not sure if I cried more or she cried more. But, we successfully got her to learn how to calm on her own and how to fall asleep on her own. Now, that doesn’t mean there aren’t nights when she is fussing and it’s just easier to feed her than to listen to her. But, overall, she is sleeping through the night, and taking regular naps. Much improved!

Likes:

  • Wrestling with Joshua
  • Mama Fia feeding her puffs
  • Bath time
  • Jumping
  • Food

Dislikes:

  • Falling and getting bumps
  • Being dropped off at the nursery at church or the gym
  • Being buckled into her carseat–but thankfully she gets over it pretty quickly

Highlights:

  • First plane ride to visit mama’s friends in Minneapolis
  • Getting two more teeth
  • Sleep training
  • Real crawling and pulling up to standing

Happy 2/3 of a year, baby!

Halloween Fun!

We like to drag holidays out…well, I like to drag them out!  I like doing all the festivities leading up to holidays and celebrating as much as possible!

For Halloween this week we did a few fun things …

Trunk or Treat at our church…

Then of course preschool costume day…

Sophia had a second {last minute, homemade} costume because wearing a unicorn was a little hard to maneuver at school πŸ™‚

We also went to a trick or treat parade at the gym …

And of course the grand finale of actual Halloween evening trick or treating!

To say they got a lot of candy is an understatement.  However, I successfully weeded out the candy and gave each bucket the same exact candy {it must be fair, of course} and I convinced them of a system for candy consumption.  Each morning they can pick two pieces of candy to put in a small bowl and they can decide when they want to eat it; but when it’s gone for the day, it’s gone!  Usually it’s gone by 10 am.  We had a lot of fun!
I got a few pics of the kids in costumes when it was warm, and sunny…before they had to be bundled up because of the dark, rainy evening…

life lately :: Clara on the MOVE

This little lady is keeping me on my toes …

Life has been a bit more busy because this little body has been on the move!  She has been army crawling since she turned 6 months, but it was relatively easy to catch her since her army crawl was still relatively slow.  But as of a few weeks ago, she decided to ditch the army crawl and go for the full on crawl–the speedy crawl!  She also shortly after figured out how to pull herself up and, well, the rest is history….

She is especially loving her new freedom to play with brother and sister, and her ability to snack on any and all items she finds on the floor {insert mama freaking out all day long}.

While it is much more work to have a mobile baby and two very mobile toddlers, it is a lot of fun to watch!

Happy moving and grooving, baby girl!
